Common Questions
What does landed cost include?
Landed cost is the total cost of a product at your destination — factory price plus ocean or air freight, US tariffs (Section 301, standard MFN, and any additional tariffs), customs broker fees, inland freight, and import duties. Most importers calculate only the factory price and get a shock when they see the true margin.
What tariff rates does the calculator use?
The calculator uses current US tariff rates on imports from China including Section 301 tariffs. It covers 10 product categories. Because tariff rates change, the spreadsheet is editable — you can update rates manually when they change.
Can I compare sea vs air freight costs?
Yes. The calculator includes both sea and air freight options and calculates the landed cost difference between the two, so you can see whether the speed premium of air freight is worth it for a given product margin.
What format is the calculator?
A Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) spreadsheet. Fully editable. Enter your factory price, product category, freight mode, destination, and the calculator outputs your total landed cost and margin. Delivered instantly.
