Cengiz Gündüz

I write the contracts, checklists and guides on this site. 25 years in trade, in import and export since 2009, and about three years living and working in China.

The short version

  • Born in Germany to Turkish parents, studied in Türkiye.
  • Ten years working in the United States.
  • Fifteen years in Brazil. In São Paulo I was co-owner, managing partner and Commercial Director of a 150-person import company.
  • In import and export since 2009.
  • Two years inside a Chinese steel mill.
  • About three years living and working in China. Founder and director of SourceProGZ Limited (Hong Kong) and its Shanghai company, which trade as The Factory Floor.
  • Turkish, English, German, Portuguese and Spanish, plus everyday Chinese.

Why I sell contracts

I didn't start with contracts to make money. A business partnership of mine went wrong in another country, and the contract I was holding didn't hold. So I built the documents I wanted to stand behind for my own deals in China. I used them, and they held. Those are the ones for sale here.

I don't sell them with fear. Chinese factories are like factories anywhere: some good, some bad, about half and half. A contract doesn't make a bad supplier good. It puts a floor under you if something goes wrong.

A law firm charges $300 to $1,500 to draft one agreement. I priced mine at $37 to $57 so a small company never has to skip it, and I update them every few months when the rules change. I'm not a lawyer. For a big order, have a lawyer read the final version.

How the work gets done

Most people start with a free guide or a template and do the rest themselves. That's what they're for. When paper isn't enough, the checking happens on the ground: factory visits are done by me or by my own trusted people in China, under my company's name and with my checklist.

I answer every email myself. If you are about to wire money and something feels off, write to me before you pay, not after.

Questions buyers ask me

Who is Cengiz Gündüz?

The founder of The Factory Floor. 25 years in trade, in import and export since 2009, and he reports every week from Shanghai. He is not a lawyer, and nothing on the site is legal advice.

Does he take commissions from factories?

No. He sells industrial equipment out of China too, so he has no supplier to push and no kickback in your order.

What has he written?

The book Sourcing From China Without Getting Burned, on Amazon, and the bilingual supplier contracts and checklists sold on this site.

Where can I check who he is?

His LinkedIn profile, the Factory Floor YouTube channel and his book on Amazon are all linked on this page.
